Broxburn Academy Half a Million Sports Pitch
SNP/Save St. Johns administration of West Lothian Council announced that £515,000 has been committed to a synthetic pitch at Broxburn Academy.
Janet Campbell stated “The previous Labour administration had failed to include a sports pitch when the school was subject to a PFI funded improvement. I’m pleased that the SNP led administration have put plans in place to rectify this omission that had left Broxburn Academy as the only secondary school in the county with no synthetic pitch.”

Kirkhill Primary £76,000
St. Nicholas Primary £140,000
Blyth Road - New Vehicle Activated Speed Sign
A number of residents in the Badger Estate have complained to me over a number of months regarding their concerns about the speed of cars using Blyth Road to join the A89. Following my representations to West Lothian Council they have installed a "Vehicle Activated Speed Sign" on Blyth Road. Discussion with the Badger Residents Association identified a suitable site adjacent to the entrance to Woodville Court.
The aim of the sign is to encourage drivers to reduce their speed to the speed limit or an appropriate speed for the road layout. Research has shown that the lowering of vehicle speeds reduces the number and severity of accidents. Where similar signs have been installed there has been a marked reduction in the speed of vehicles and the number of vehicles travelling above the speed limit.
FREE Children's Swimming Sessions
SNP led West Lothian Council are providing FREE swimming for all youngsters under the age of 16 every Friday afternoon until the end of the year under a new initiative. The move follows a successful trial last year which saw children receive free swimming across the county during the summer holidays.
The initiative has now been expanded to let children swim for free at West Lothian pools every Friday afternoon, as well as during school holidays at Easter, summer and October this year.
The free swimming sessions are available at the Broxburn Leisure pool.
SNP Deliver Council Tax Freeze

"We are putting more money into important local services such as police, nursery, primary, secondary and special schools, public transport, and care for children and the elderly," added Councillor Johnston.

New Buses on Commuter Services
First Bus will introduce new buses to routes 12 and 16, operating to Edinburgh via Broxburn.
The introduction of these new buses will also allow the SNP led council to enter into a Quality Partnership Agreement, which will ensure the improved service is delivered.
The new buses will have low floors and provide easy access, making it more convenient for people with wheelchairs and buggies to access the vehicles.
£2.3 Million for new Sports Facility
MASSIVE £2.3 million investment has been granted to grass roots community football in West Lothian to promote the premier league with the announcement of a new pavilion complex and third generation synthetic turf pitch in Broxburn.
The project was approved at West Lothian Council’s Council Executive meeting Tuesday 11 September.
The new facility will be the first community led project of its type in West Lothian, and will be managed by Broxburn United Sports Club (BUSC), which caters for around 600 male and female members from five year olds through to adults, on behalf of the council.
Leader of West Lothian Council Peter Johnston, commented: “We are delighted to be able to kick off this fantastic community project in Broxburn. The new facilities will have a major impact on the delivery of community sport in the Broxburn locality, contributing to increased participation in sport and physical activity.”
The project proposal will bring together a new pavilion complex and the first Third Generation synthetic turf pitch for West Lothian. The new pitch will replace the existing grass pitch at Albyn Park and although it is particularly suited to football, this type of surface is also suitable for a number of other sports and would be a major addition to the existing stock of synthetic sand based pitches across the area. The facilities will also be available for use by local schools and one-off events.
